John coordinates GLEC’s organic chemistry lab and supports database and information system requirements of EPA’s Unregulated Contaminant Regulation contract and GLEC general operations. He has been a GLEC employee-owner since 1998. John’s work in environmental chemistry has emphasized pollutant degradation reactions; pollutant dissolved organic matter interactions and chemical analysis techniques. He is experienced at developing and implementing analytical chemistry procedures for monitoring pesticide and petroleum hydrocarbon decomposition as a result of either photochemical reactions or microbial degradation, and is proficient in analytical instrumentation; HPLC, GPC, GC-ECD, GC-MS, 1H-NMR, FTIR, absorption spectroscopy and synchronous scan fluorescence spectroscopy. John holds a M.S. in Chemistry from the University of Maine.
