Field Research Technician
EmailMichael joined GLEC in 2022 after working as a GIS technician and designer in the telecommunications industry and as a geospatial analyst for a satellite imagery services firm. He is an expert river and fishing guide promoting conservation of Michigan’s inland waterways and holds an inland passenger vessel operator license. As a Research Assistant for the Michigan State University Forestry Department, he conducted year-round field sampling of soil, water, and snow in the Hiawatha National Forest. As a student intern, Michael assisted the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality with database maintenance and permitting updates and led educational events as an Explorer Guide for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Michael’s skills in field operations, GIS, and environmental data science enhance GLEC’s field research capabilities and expand GIS practice offerings. Michael has a B.S. in Environmental Geography with a minor in GIS from Michigan State University.
